Dental Assistant - Bilingual, Part Time

Location: Los Lunas, NM

Our Los Lunas, NM clinic is looking for part-time Dental Assistants. We provide on the job training, so certification is not required to be hired as a DA in our Los Lunas, NM office.

Job Purpose

To assist the dentist effectively and efficiently in providing dental care to patients and to promote Familia Dental’s culture and mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and escort patient in a professional and friendly manner from reception area to and from the treatment areas.
  • Ensure treatment rooms are equipped and stocked with inventory and re-order when necessary.
  • Take and record patient’s medical and dental histories and vital signs, blood pressure & pulse.
  • Document/chart all dental procedures performed during each patient visit per Dentist’s instructions and legal requirements.
  • Take and develop dental diagnostic x-rays.
  • Pour and base diagnostic models and fabricate temporary restorations – as allowed by state law.
  • Sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials and assist Dentist during dental procedures.
  • Effectively provide dental education and information to patients to ensure patient awareness of dental health, and oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling).
  • Notify Office Manager of equipment trouble or general safety concerns
  • Attend and participate in morning huddles, chart reviews and regular office meetings..
  • Understand and follow company policy and procedures
  • Understand and follow state and federal laws related to a dental office
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications/Skill Sets

  • Bilingual: English/ Spanish
  • Exceptional customer/patient service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills
  • Ability to effectively present information one-on-one with patients.
  • Basic computer knowledge and experience with dental management software experience. Denticon experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work in fast paced, patient-focused environment.
  • Detail oriented
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Meet state requirements for DA duties, continuing education, or license; Basic Life Support (BLS), cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate, and radiography certificate
  • Dental experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience working within healthcare or related field strongly preferred

Availability:

Working Hours: M-F, 8:30 AM - 7 PM and Sat, 8:30 AM - 4 PM

  • work a flexible schedule that can vary days from week to week
  • 4+ days a week, 30-40 hours per week
  • alternating Saturdays
  • Full shifts > 8 to 10 hours
